Geometry Tutors

Geometry is the study of shape, size, position and other properties of objects in a plane or in space. Geometrical procedures and proofs for 2-dimensionals and 3-dimensionals can be difficult for students to comprehend. Geometric questions revolve around geometry concepts, theories and geometry proofs.

Fundamentals Of Geometry

Teaching of geometry begins in kindergarten where children are taught to identify and name a variety of shapes, such as squares, triangles, circles, and rectangles. Entering into first grade, student needs to identify solid figures such as cube, cylinder, cone, rectangular prism, and sphere. This continue through lower grades where students are taught to identify figures with line symmetry, characteristics of sides and corners of plane figures, congruent figures, identify point, lines, line segments, rays, angles, faces, edges, corners and right angles, Describe and identify figures under transformations such as slide, flip and turn.

In upper grade, students will be taught to identify triangles, quadrilaterals, polygons and regular shapes such as square, rectangle, kite, rhombus, parallelogram, pentagon, hexagon, and octagon. For straight lines, student will learn to identify and construct intersecting, parallel, perpendicular lines and measure angles using a protractor. For triangles, student will learn to construct and label vertex and sides of triangle, identifying right, obtuse and acute angles. For circles, student will identify and construct center, radius, diameter, circumference and area.

Geometry Tutors For Children

To excel in geometry, the fundamentals of lines, angles, triangles, rectangles, parallelograms and rectilinear figures need to be properly taught in order to understand higher concepts. Children must be able to construct geometrical shapes such as circles and polygons and prove theorems. Surprisingly some children who excel in algebra are struggling with geometry, especially in the area of geometry formal proofs. Some children are especially weak in understanding theorems, axioms, deductive and inductive reasoning, theorems involving congruence and similarity.

Geometry tutors are there to help children learn and apply formulas relating to perimeter, area, circles, triangles, quadrilaterals and polygons. For upper level, geometry tutors will need to help the children grasp the concepts of shapes and figures such as prisms, cones, spheres and other solids. With the help of good geometry tutors, children will build strong concepts on shape and figures. This will help them to find it easier to learn the higher concepts in trigonometry, which is the applications of the ratio of sides, known as sine, cosine and tangent, on geometrical shapes and figures.
